Embarking on the journey of bringing a new puppy or dog into your household requires a great deal of preparation and informed decisions. At AYM, we understand the plethora of questions that may arise during this exciting transition. We're pleased to offer a Pre-Puppy Consultation session, where we will address all your concerns and equip you with the essential knowledge to warmly welcome your newest companion.

During this consultation, we will delve into various crucial aspects, including but not limited to, the introduction of crate training techniques, establishment of feeding schedules, utilization of food enrichment, effective house training methods, selection of appropriate teething toys, housemate introduction and more. Additionally, we extend our expertise to address any specific inquiries or uncertainties you may have.

We acknowledge that the process of integrating a new dog into your household can be accompanied by uncertainty and stress, no matter the age. Rest assured, AYM is dedicated to help create a seamless transition and ensuring the utmost comfort for your new companion. Consultations are by phone call and are 1 hour in length. 

In addition to the joy and affection that accompanies the introduction of a new puppy into your home, it is not uncommon to encounter moments of apprehension and stress. It is our belief that the training process should be an enjoyable and harmonious endeavour, one that serves to strengthen the bond shared between you and your furry companion. For puppies aged under six months, we offer a structured training regimen comprising six private, in-home sessions, each lasting one hour. Our aim is to equip both puppy and owner with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate this crucial learning period successfully. As part of our comprehensive service, owners will be provided with a copy of the "Proficient Puppy Pack," a valuable resource containing essential insights and guidance to support the ongoing development of your pup. Our ultimate goal is to ensure a harmonious and fulfilling journey for both you and your puppy.

Life often becomes quite hectic when welcoming a new puppy into your home, and it's not uncommon for certain aspects of training to inadvertently fall by the wayside. Alternatively, circumstances may dictate that your puppy joins your household at a slightly older age. Rest assured, we are well-equipped to address these situations. Our training program is tailored to accommodate puppies under the age of 12 months.

For puppies exceeding six months of age, our curriculum comprises six private, in-home training sessions, each spanning one hour. These meticulously designed sessions serve a dual purpose: reinforcing existing behaviours and commands while introducing new ones. Additionally, our program places significant emphasis on the critical facets of socialization and exposure.

This course also proves to be particularly beneficial if you are experiencing minor behavioural concerns such as separation anxiety. If you find yourself uncertain about whether this course aligns with your puppy's needs or have specific queries, we invite you to engage in a conversation with us. We are dedicated to assisting you in making informed decisions about your puppy's training and development.

 Crafted for graduates of our Puppy Foundation Program, this advanced curriculum builds upon the foundational knowledge acquired previously. Our program enhances the complexity of training exercises, providing a comprehensive skill set essential for real-world applications. Emphasizing outdoor and public settings, we ensure the practicality of learned skills in everyday scenarios, where effective training is most important. Tailored to address individual concerns arising post-Puppy Foundation Program, our training regimen encompasses leash walking, recall, calm behaviour maintenance, social interactions, and additional pertinent skills. Continuing to utilize clicker training, our lessons, spanning one hour each, unfold over six consecutive weeks, delivering an immersive and progressive learning experience. 

We take pleasure in welcoming dogs aged one year and above for training, following a thorough assessment on a case-by-case basis. Common behavioral issues addressed during our training sessions include noise phobia, car anxiety, separation anxiety, loose leash walking, recall, and inappropriate greetings. Our 8-week Reactive Dog Program is designed for dogs who struggle with reactivity toward other dogs, people, or environmental triggers — whether it stems from excitement, fear, frustration, or aggression. Using clicker training and positive reinforcement, we focus on understanding your dog’s emotions and building their confidence rather than suppressing their behavior through punishment.

Our goal is to equip both you and your dog with the tools to navigate real-world triggers calmly and successfully. Reactive dogs are not “bad” dogs — they’re simply struggling, and we’re here to help them (and you) thrive.

Many dogs experience anxiety during nail trims, baths, or blow drying — but it doesn’t have to be that way. Since grooming is a regular part of care, especially for certain breeds, it’s important to create positive associations early on.

Our program focuses on reducing stress and building comfort through gradual desensitization and positive reinforcement. Step by step, we help your dog gain confidence with each aspect of grooming so these experiences become calm, safe, and even enjoyable.

 One of the primary motivations for dog ownership is companionship during leisurely walks. However, many dog owners underestimate the importance of leash training. Dogs naturally exude enthusiasm, often leading them to pull eagerly towards parks or other dogs. Our training approach prioritizes positive reinforcement over tools such as prong collars, e-collars, haltis, or specialized harnesses. Through personalized, one-on-one sessions between trainer and dog, our program aims to teach dogs to walk calmly and joyfully without leash tension. Owners will receive structured homework assignments to reinforce learning between sessions, ensuring sustained progress.  Designed for dogs exhibiting non-aggressive reactive behavior. 

 It is a common misconception that it is normal for dogs to be fearful at the veterinarian. In reality, dogs should be able to enter and exit the veterinary office with a wagging tail, unless they are unwell. Fear and anxiety during vet visits are not typical and can be addressed with the right training and support. 

This program is designed to help dogs manage stress and anxiety during veterinary visits. It includes a combination of in-home training to develop essential skills and on-site lessons at your veterinary hospital. We will collaborate with your veterinarian to create a tailored plan to ensure success. Additionally, we will accompany you to the veterinary office for training sessions to reinforce positive behaviors in the real-world setting. 

 Our custom program is specifically designed to meet the unique needs of clients whose concerns may not be fully addressed within the framework of standard training programs. This program offers a flexible, tailored approach to address a wide range of behavioural issues that may require more individualized attention. It allows for multiple concerns to be addressed within the same program, making it an efficient and comprehensive solution for clients seeking broader support for their pets. At the start of the program, the client and trainer will engage in an in-depth conversation to discuss the dog's specific needs, goals, and priorities. Concerns addressed within this custom program can include, but are not limited to, issues such as separation anxiety, leash walking, socialization, recall, jumping, and excessive barking.
